Default Mending, why not?

I really don't understant the problem people have with mending in PvP arenas. I personally use mending all the time no exceptions on my tank. I realize that its easy for someone to dis-enchant me and I accept it. It's my choice. (BTW The same thing goes for HH, I run it a lot, I really do like that skill... so why flame me in PvP for it?)

I figure this comes from one (or both) of two ideas.

1. Elitism. ZOMGORZ NOOBZ DONT UZ DA MENDING MA MEZZEZ WIL KILLZ IT QUICK LIKE!!!!11!!11!!!!!!1

2. Do I really piss you off that much just because I have +3 regen all the time? Its not like you can't run that skill.

Really people, I just don't understand why people call mending tanks noobs. If there is some downside I haven't experienced yet I'd love to know it. However I HIGHLY doubt that is a possibility because I have used mending for a long, long time.

because you dont need to tank in pvp, you need to deal damage(as a warrior).
by using mending you lose half of your energy regen.

You're spending HALF your energy regeneration on a skill that is only providing you with six health/second. Vigourous Spirt can privide about 10 hp/second, only costs 5 energy, lasts for 30 seconds, and has no -1 penatly... Meaning if someone removes it, you can very easily put it back in place, provide much more reliable healing than mending, AND you're getting healed more.

Mending = utterly pointless, hence why people who use it are seen as "noob".

it's because it's a waste of attributes, those 8 points could serve a better use being put into your weapon or something else to increase your attack power. A 'tank' is meant to absorb damage, a warrior is meant to deal it. Play your class properly.

Its not elitism that causes hate towards mending noobs, its general facts about the amount of healing it provides vs alternative forms of healing in the same attribute or other areas.

6. Health. Per. Freaking. Second.

Seriously. If you wait 10 seconds, it'll heal for about as much as an Orison. But then you would be dead.

I rest my case.

EDIT: Well, maybe I should try to be helpful, or something...

1. You don't tank PvP. Other players are not mindless AI, they don't wail on whoever aggroes them and they go for priority targets first*. Warriors cause damage, not soak it up. That's why frenzy is a good skill.

2. If you're in RA, or AvA, i.e. in a battle where you can't rely on a monk watching your back, self-heal is important. Healing Hands is a good choice if you're willing to sacrifice your elite. Mending is not, since it heals you for 6 health per second and constantly wastes energy. But if you're in a situation where you have to mediate damage on your own, pre-veil yourself, for example. Make that necro spend 2 more seconds to cast SS on you and immediately drop veil when you see it pop up. This will prevent a lot more damage than 3 pips of regen will heal you.

There's plenty of better uses for a pip of energy, a skill slot and 8 points in healing prayers. If you still can't see that... well, I hope I'll run into you in HA. Free fame never hurt anyone.

The first one.. my mes will kill you

Not cause you're using mending though, mainly cause the warriors with mending I run into hit through ineptitude, clumsiness, get hit with images of remorse, stripped of the top enchant and.. clumsiness or ineptitude again if not dead already

Mending is a great skill if you're soloing.

1. Warrior is not always a tank
2. A tank is a warrior who tanks. Tanking is explained in general over here: http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Tank it isn't the best of guides but it explains what a tank does.
3. A tank does NOT use mending. In certain early areas in prophecies, mending is ok but anything in the high end will usually outdamage the healing you get from it. In Cantha pretty much every area afaik has a few enchantremovers or worse, shatterers. So if you run in with an enchantment or some nub monks puts enchants on you then you may aswell just wear no armour and /dance while everything hits you,... the result is the same.
4. Instead of mending, dump all those points from healing prayers back into your weapon. Swordsmen can get away with 14 points... so a minor 1+1 helm/rune allow you to have 75 more hp than an axer who usually runs 16. 16 because of the crits and more powerful skills (compared to 14 in axe). Still, I'd use 16 sword in pvp myself though. Same for pve.
If you already have 16 then dump the points into tactics for defensive stances or str, for dolyak. Those are the tanking lines specifically designed it seems, for tanking.

Have a nice day.
